Bridge Life-Cycle Engineering: Design, Construction, Inspection and Maintenance Training Course
1Summary
A bridge is rarely finished the day it opens to traffic — from that point on, it enters decades of loading, weathering, and gradual deterioration that has to be tracked and managed. This training course walks engineers and specialists through the full life cycle of a bridge, from choosing the right structural system and setting design principles, through construction, inspection, and the maintenance decisions that keep it safe for the long term.
Participants examine the loads, materials, and structural detailing that govern bridge safety and durability, alongside practical methods for assessing existing structures, spotting deterioration early, and planning the right repair or strengthening response. The programme blends core engineering fundamentals with established bridge management practices, helping participants connect technical decisions across design, construction, operation, and maintenance.
Offered by the Arab British Fellowship Training Academy, the Bridge Life-Cycle Engineering: Design, Construction, Inspection and Maintenance Training Course builds the practical judgement needed to keep bridge infrastructure efficient and serviceable over time.
