Logistics Planning to Compete in Global Markets

1Summary

A company can produce a strong product and still lose market share to a competitor simply because that competitor moves goods faster, cheaper or more reliably. Logistics Planning to Compete in Global Markets, delivered by Arab British Fellowship Training Academy, starts from that competitive reality rather than from a textbook definition, and asks a direct question: what does a logistics operation need to plan for once it is competing against players anywhere in the world?

The programme shows how logistics activities are increasingly carried out through integrated information systems, applying economies of scale and the latest advances brought by the technological revolution, and how this has reshaped the international division of labour and the globalisation of production and trade – segmenting a single product’s manufacture across several countries before it reaches the end consumer. Participants leave understanding why virtually every organisation, public or private, now needs a logistics arm built to withstand that level of competition.
