Fire Insurance and Loss Adjusting: A Practical Training Course

1Summary

Disaster losses have climbed sharply this century — from the Indian Ocean tsunami, which claimed more than a quarter of a million lives, to Haiti's earthquake, which killed over 220,000 people and caused economic damage estimated at roughly 120% of GDP, to flooding in Pakistan that affected nearly 20 million people. Events like these pushed governments worldwide to take the economic and social impact of disasters seriously, and the damage-and-loss assessment methodology developed by the Economic Commission has since become a globally recognized tool for measuring that impact.

This course brings that same rigor down to the level of fire insurance and loss adjusting. It builds advanced skills in managing insurance for employees in companies and institutions, and in understanding fire insurance terms, how they're applied, and how losses connected to fire insurance are properly evaluated.
