From Doctor to Supervisor Course: Building Medical Leadership Skills
1Summary
A surgeon leading an operating room is, in that moment, also its supervisor — responsible for diagnosing, coordinating the team, and making the call when something goes wrong. Yet medical training rarely teaches that side of the job explicitly. Management is usually treated as the territory of the Health Administration department, even though every physician eventually needs it: balancing patient priorities against quality of care, and coordinating across departments within a health center.
Arab British Fellowship Training Academy designed this programme to close that gap, covering the supervisory responsibilities physicians carry based on their rank, role, and medical specialty — for anyone who wants to develop their capabilities in this area.
