Contract Drafting Strategy: A Modern Legal Approach

1Summary

A legal affairs department earns its keep by catching problems before they become expensive ones — spotting violations and irregularities early, flagging anything that looks like a disciplinary or even criminal offence to the right authority, and making sure every contract the organisation signs is implemented cleanly. This course is built around that role, with a sharp focus on modern strategies for legal drafting.

Drafting a contract properly isn't just about tidy language, checked terms, and well-ordered clauses — though all of that matters for accuracy and coherence. It's really about reviewing every clause of the draft, along with everything that led up to it, to confirm it matches the law and is free of anything that could block the agreement or undermine it later, whether the contract is domestic, international, or administrative. Before anyone even starts writing, they need to understand what the contract is establishing legally: is there a genuine offer and acceptance, is capacity present, are the essentials actually complete?
