Training Course: Reading Today's World Through the Lens of Realism

1Summary

Why does a major power keep protecting its interests even when doing so strains alliances or draws global criticism? Realist theory has one clear answer: because in an international system with no higher authority above the state, national interest and security come first, and everything else - ideology, cooperation, even friendship between nations - is judged against that standard.

Arab British Fellowship Training Academy built this course around that lens. Since its emergence, realism has stood as one of the central frameworks for understanding the forces that actually drive global politics and the decisions great powers make. Participants will gain a solid grounding in its foundations and analytical tools, and practise applying the theory to read complex, current international situations - sharpening their ability to interpret today's world the way a realist strategist would.
