Training Course on Diplomatic Presence: International Protocol and Etiquette

1Summary

A single mistake in seating order, or a greeting given to the wrong official first, can undercut months of careful diplomatic work before a single word of substance is exchanged. In international relations, presence is not just about what is said - it is about how it is said, when, and to whom. This is the territory the Arab British Fellowship Training Academy covers in its Training Course on Diplomatic Presence: International Protocol and Etiquette.

Rather than starting from theory, the course is built around the situations diplomats and protocol officers actually face: greeting a visiting delegation, running a high-level meeting, hosting an official banquet, handling an unexpected question at a press conference, or coordinating an internal protocol team under time pressure. Cultural context runs through every module, because the same gesture that signals respect in one country can cause offence in another.
