Sports Coaching Fundamentals Training Course
1Summary
In today's sports and fitness world, the difference between a coach who just repeats exercises and one who actually develops athletes usually comes down to one thing: how well they understand the foundations of sports training. Everyday physical activity, the kind people do to stay fit and manage the pressures of daily life, follows a different logic than professional-level coaching, which demands a solid grounding in training science before anyone steps onto the field.
Because sports training shapes so much of an athlete's progress and wellbeing, the Arab British Fellowship Training Academy built this course to equip coaches with that grounding before they take charge of a team or an individual athlete.
2Objectives and target group
Course objectives
Training is never a one-size-fits-all process — even inside a group session, each trainee is essentially on an individual track. By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Take individual differences into account when planning a training program, since trainees don't reach the same level at the same pace, and each one needs to be pushed only as far as they're realistically able to go.
- Ground every training decision in the scientific basis of the body, particularly muscular anatomy, to avoid over-targeting specific muscles, which can cause lasting harm and sometimes keep someone from training altogether.
- Structure a program around consistent attendance and regular follow-up rather than isolated sessions, since progress depends more on continuity than on any single workout.
- Carry themselves with the firm, confident presence that a training process demands, since a coach's personality directly shapes how seriously trainees take the program.
This course is designed for:
- New coaches preparing to lead their first training sessions.
- Physical education instructors and trainers in sports clubs.
- Anyone supervising or designing individual or group training programs.
