Educational Leadership in Practice: The Many Roles of School Management

1Summary

A school head who only manages paperwork will struggle the moment a parent complaint, a curriculum change, and a discipline issue land on the same day. That is the real test of educational management: coordinating the administrative, pedagogical, and social dimensions of an institution at once, not handling them one at a time.

Practiced across every type of educational institution, educational management covers the implementation, oversight, and evaluation of activities that serve educational goals. As the concept of education evolved, so did school management itself — expanding from narrow administrative duties into an integrated function that supplies the material, human, and technical resources a school needs to reach its educational and social purpose.
