Management Fundamentals: Roles, Structure and Practice

1Summary

Every organisation, regardless of size, runs on the same underlying engine: management. Get the fundamentals right — planning, organising, directing, and controlling — and resources get directed, effort gets coordinated, and objectives actually get delivered. Get them wrong, and even the best technical talent struggles to produce results.

Technical skill alone no longer carries a career forward. As markets shift and work environments evolve, understanding managerial principles and applying them with flexibility has become just as important as domain expertise. This programme builds that understanding from the ground up, equipping participants to take on leadership roles confidently in both public and private organisations, while also developing the personal qualities that modern management demands.

2Objectives and target group

By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:

  • Explain core management concepts and the functions built on top of them.
  • Carry out managerial roles and responsibilities with professionalism.
  • Plan, organise, and control work at the team or department level.
  • Communicate effectively and make sound decisions in administrative settings.
  • Recognise modern management trends and how they apply in practice.
