Applying Competency Frameworks to Everyday HR Decisions

1Summary

A hiring manager picks the wrong candidate. A performance review feels inconsistent from one team to the next. A promising employee is passed over for promotion with no clear reason why. These everyday HR problems usually trace back to the same root cause: no shared, agreed-upon language for what "good performance" actually looks like in a given role.

A competency framework is the fix. It is a strategic tool that lets organizations define the skills, knowledge and behaviors required to meet their objectives, and it supports better decisions in recruitment, professional development, evaluation and career planning.

The Arab British Fellowship Training Academy designed this program to give participants a working understanding of competency frameworks: how to build them, and how to apply them consistently across an organization, so that performance stays aligned with real business challenges and the pace of change in today's workplace.
