Training Programme

From Site to Screen: Surveying, GPS and GIS Technologies for Construction Projects Training Course (Online / Remote)

1Summary

A construction site can only be as accurate as the measurements it is built from, which is why Construction Surveying remains the technical backbone linking design drawings to real ground conditions. This training course takes participants from field instruments through to digital platforms, building a complete, practical grounding in modern surveying, GPS and GIS technologies for construction.

Participants start with the total station, the core instrument behind precise construction measurement, then extend into GPS positioning and control for active sites. The course also covers the fundamentals of modern land surveying and builds capability in producing mapping outputs, so that everything measured in the field ends up correctly represented, coordinated and usable in construction delivery.

The From Site to Screen programme is delivered by Arab British Fellowship Training Academy to build well-rounded, practical construction surveying capability for civil engineers and surveying professionals.

2Objectives and target group

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Operate a total station and interpret its data for construction measurement
  • Apply GPS technologies for positioning, control and setting-out on site
  • Apply the fundamentals and modern methods of land surveying, including boundary and topographic work
  • Produce and interpret mapping outputs that support construction planning
  • Integrate survey and GIS data into day-to-day construction workflows
  • Apply core principles of Construction Surveying and relevant standards across the project lifecycle

Who Should Attend

  • Land and construction surveyors working on active project sites
  • Civil and construction engineers responsible for site setting-out and control
  • GIS and geospatial professionals supporting construction projects
  • Site engineers and supervisors coordinating survey and mapping activities
  • Engineers and professionals building expertise in construction surveying
