Data Protection, Risk and Compliance Training Course (Online / Remote)

1Summary

Every year, organisations lose millions to data breaches that could have been prevented with the right governance structure in place. The Arab British Fellowship Training Academy designed the Data Protection, Risk and Compliance Training Course to close that gap, giving professionals a practical route to managing sensitive information responsibly.

Rather than starting from theory, the programme opens with the risks organisations actually face: security threats, regulatory penalties, and the operational fallout of mishandled data. From there, participants move into the regulatory landscape, working through major frameworks such as GDPR and CCPA alongside the classification and lifecycle rules that keep information properly handled from creation to disposal.

The second half of the course turns to execution: how compliance systems and privacy policies are actually built and enforced, and what an effective response looks like once an incident does happen. Attendees leave with a working knowledge of ISACA and ISO 8000 practices for international data management.

The course suits anyone whose job depends on keeping an organisation's data secure, compliant, and trustworthy, not only specialists, but managers who need to understand the stakes.

2Objectives and target group

What You Will Be Able to Do

By the end of this course, participants will be equipped to:

  • Read and apply the major global data protection laws, GDPR, CCPA, and similar frameworks, to real organisational decisions.
  • Build and run a data governance framework that ties policies and procedures to how data actually moves through the organisation.
  • Identify data security threats early and design risk management initiatives that neutralise them before they escalate.
  • Classify data correctly and manage its lifecycle, from creation through secure storage and disposal.
  • Set up compliance management systems and privacy policies together, so legal obligations and day-to-day practice reinforce each other.
  • Lead an incident response when a breach happens, containing damage, meeting notification duties, and recovering with minimal disruption.
  • Apply international best practices such as ISACA and ISO 8000 to data governance projects, including defining roles, responsibilities, and risk controls.
