Understanding and Responding to Global Mental Health Challenges (Online / Remote)
1Summary
Hundreds of millions of people worldwide are living with a mental health condition, yet in most countries the systems meant to support them are underfunded, misunderstood, or simply absent. This course by the Arab British Fellowship Training Academy equips psychologists, humanitarian workers, and health and social care professionals to understand why mental health has become one of the defining global challenges of our time — and what can realistically be done about it, from crisis response to long-term prevention.
Wars, displacement, pandemics, climate change, and economic instability have all driven a measurable rise in stress, anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic disorders across the world. Participants examine these drivers alongside the cultural, legal, and technological factors that shape how mental health is understood — and supported — differently from one society to another.
