Advanced Asset and Maintenance Reliability Training Course (Online / Remote)

1Summary

Unplanned downtime is one of the most expensive things that can happen on a production floor, and it is almost always cheaper to prevent than to fix. This Advanced Asset and Maintenance Reliability Training Course from the Arab British Fellowship Training Academy is built around that simple fact, moving maintenance teams away from "fix it when it breaks" and toward a planned, lifecycle-driven approach to managing assets.

The course opens by benchmarking where an organisation currently stands on asset management maturity, using recognised frameworks including ISO 55000, before introducing risk-based maintenance as a way of deciding which assets deserve the closest attention. From there it covers the full life cycle of an asset, from acquisition through to disposal, including life cycle costing and the systems engineering thinking behind it.

The programme closes with smart and predictive maintenance technologies, giving participants a practical view of how modern data tools are changing the way equipment performance is measured and managed. Attendees leave equipped to reduce costs and downtime while pushing safety and asset performance higher.

2Objectives and target group

  • Assess an organisation's asset management maturity against recognised standards, including ISO 55000.
  • Set up maintenance KPIs and a department scorecard that actually gets used.
  • Apply risk-based maintenance to decide where attention and budget should go.
  • Manage the full life cycle of an asset, including life cycle costing and systems engineering considerations.
  • Apply predictive and smart maintenance technologies to reduce failures and downtime.
  • Identify unsafe acts and conditions and correct common safety misconceptions.

Target Audience

  • Professionals involved in maintenance management.
  • Work planning and control staff.
  • Maintenance supervisors, engineers, team leaders and managers.
  • Operations team leaders and managers.
  • Anyone supervising or managing maintenance activities, or wanting to understand its role in the business.

3Course Content

Module 1: Benchmarking Asset Management Maturity

  • Asset management as a business process, including the strategy framework and line of sight from policy to operations.
  • Asset management roles across strategic, tactical and operational levels, and the position of maintenance within them.
  • ISO 55000 as the international reference point, and how to run a maturity assessment and gap analysis against it.
  • Building the business case and roadmap for maintenance improvement, based on cost-benefit thinking.

Module 2: Risk-Based Maintenance Decisions

  • Why not every failure carries the same weight: core principles of risk at business and asset level.
  • Building and using a risk matrix and risk register.
  • Understanding failure behaviour of systems to choose the right maintenance tasks for each asset.

Module 3: Managing the Full Asset Life Cycle

  • The stages of an asset's life cycle, from demand forecasting through creation and acquisition.
  • Systems engineering approach and RAMS requirements and methodologies.
  • Life cycle costing (LCC) and decisions on disposal, replacement or life extension.

Module 4: Predictive and Smart Maintenance Technology

  • Principles of predictive maintenance (PdM) and an overview of relevant technologies.
  • Measuring asset performance with modern data tools and analysing the results.
  • Using decision support tools to optimise the overall maintenance strategy.
