Practical Course in Cloud Infrastructure Cybersecurity (Online / Remote)

1Summary

"The cloud provider secures it" is one of the most expensive assumptions an organization can make – in reality, security in the cloud is split between provider and customer, and most breaches happen on the customer's half of that line. The Cloud Infrastructure Cybersecurity Practical Course, delivered by the Arab British Fellowship Training Academy, starts by making that shared-responsibility boundary concrete, then builds the skills needed to defend the customer's side of it.

Participants work through encryption, network security, and identity and access management (IAM) across public, private, and hybrid cloud models, then extend that into DevSecOps pipelines, incident response, and compliance auditing. The course closes by looking at where cloud security is headed next, so participants leave equipped for both today's cloud environment and tomorrow's.

2Objectives and target group

Who Should Attend?

  • Cybersecurity professionals and cloud engineers responsible for designing and securing cloud infrastructure.
  • IT managers overseeing cloud environments and DevSecOps teams integrating security into cloud applications.
  • Security analysts and data protection specialists focused on safeguarding cloud environments.

Knowledge and Benefits:

By the end of the program, participants will be able to:

  • Apply the shared responsibility model correctly across public, private, and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Secure cloud data, networks, and applications using encryption and identity and access management (IAM).
  • Integrate security into cloud DevOps pipelines through DevSecOps practices and automation.
  • Respond to cloud security incidents and maintain regulatory compliance through auditing and reporting.

3Course Content

  • Module 1: Cloud Security Fundamentals and the Shared Responsibility Line

    • Defining cloud cybersecurity, its key challenges, and the differences between public, private, and hybrid clouds.
    • How responsibility for security splits between cloud provider and customer, and applying that split in practice.
    • Current trends in cloud security and the impact of modern cloud technologies on protection strategies.
  • Module 2: Encrypting and Protecting Data and Networks in the Cloud

    • Encrypting data at rest and in transit, plus key management tools in the cloud.
    • Designing secure cloud networks with VPNs, firewalls, and network segmentation.
    • Using cloud monitoring and cloud-native security tools, and automating security processes.
  • Module 3: Identity, Access, and Compliance in the Cloud

    • The role of IAM, multi-factor authentication, and access control in multi-user cloud environments.
    • Meeting regulatory requirements such as GDPR and ISO 27001 in cloud services.
    • Advanced IAM protocols (OAuth, SAML) and applying access policies across multi-cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Module 4: Public, Private, and Hybrid Cloud Security Models

    • Securing applications, services, data, and communications in the public cloud.
    • Designing and securing private cloud infrastructure and addressing its specific risks.
    • Securely connecting public and private clouds and applying security strategies for hybrid setups.
  • Module 5: Building Security into Cloud DevOps Pipelines

    • The DevSecOps model and embedding security throughout the cloud software development lifecycle.
    • Vulnerability scanning, real-time monitoring, and managing patches within DevSecOps pipelines.
    • Securing cloud applications via continuous integration (CI/CD) and early-stage risk analysis.
  • Module 6: Incident Response and Compliance Auditing in the Cloud

    • Cloud security incident response strategies and business continuity/data recovery planning.
    • Managing privacy and data protection strategies and legal challenges in cloud compliance.
    • Compliance auditing tools and processes, and producing reports that demonstrate cloud security posture.
  • Module 7: The Road Ahead for Cloud Security

    • The role of artificial intelligence, blockchain, and distributed computing in modern cloud security.
    • Emerging trends and potential future threats to cloud environments.
    • Preparing for upcoming challenges and identifying opportunities to strengthen cloud security practices.
