Training Course in Grid Integration of Wind Power (Online / Remote)

1Summary

Generating wind power is only half the challenge — getting it onto a grid built decades ago for steady, predictable power plants is the other half. Intermittency, congestion, and reliability concerns can stall a wind project just as easily as a poor site choice, which is why grid integration has become its own specialized discipline within the renewable energy field.

This training course by the Arab British Fellowship Training Academy covers that discipline end to end: how power grids function, the technical hurdles wind power creates, and the smart-grid, storage, and demand-response tools used to solve them. Participants also work through the market mechanisms, investment considerations, and policy instruments that shape whether integration projects move forward.

2Objectives and target group

Who Should Attend?

  • Energy engineers and technicians working on the design, operation, and maintenance of energy systems, particularly renewables.
  • Project managers and planners responsible for implementing renewable energy projects, with a focus on wind power.
  • Regulatory and policy experts in government or non-governmental organizations focused on energy policy and sustainability.

Course Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe wind energy principles and technologies and their role within the power grid.
  • Analyze the technical and operational challenges of integrating wind power into existing grid systems.
  • Apply strategies and technologies that enhance the reliability and efficiency of wind power integration.
