Training Course on Managing Project Risks and Overcoming Execution Obstacles (Online / Remote)

1Summary

Every project, in every sector and every country, runs into obstacles at some point — some are predictable, others catch even experienced teams off guard. What separates a project that recovers from one that collapses is rarely luck; it is whether the people running it can see a risk coming and respond before it turns into a crisis. That is the practical skill this training course, delivered by the Arab British Fellowship Training Academy, is built around.

Rather than treating risk management as paperwork done after something goes wrong, the programme takes a proactive stance: understanding both the threats and the opportunities hidden inside uncertainty, and using qualitative and quantitative analysis to decide where to focus. Participants examine real cases from major organisations alongside a structured, internationally recognised risk process, so theory is always tied to how obstacles actually show up on the ground — legally, financially, politically, or organisationally.

2Objectives and target group

Who Should Attend?

  • Project managers and project management office members across all sectors.
  • Executive managers and entrepreneurs responsible for project outcomes.
  • Project supervisors and monitors who track execution on the ground.

Programme Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Recognise the internal obstacles that most commonly derail projects, from weak oversight to unclear decision-making.
  • Identify the external pressures — regulatory, contractual, or environmental — that a project team cannot control but must plan around.
  • Apply a structured six-step process to identify, assess, and monitor risks affecting scope, cost, time, and quality.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative techniques, including expected monetary value (EMV), to prioritise risk responses and build a realistic risk budget.
