Department Heads: Advanced Management Skills Training Course (Online / Remote)
1Summary
A lot of people assume a leader is simply whoever sits behind the desk giving orders. In practice, management and leadership are closer to an ongoing attempt to influence the people around you and guide them toward a shared goal – whether that is a group of volunteers organising an event or a department head running a team inside a company. Whenever a group needs to reach a specific objective, it needs a leader, and that leader has to actually deliver the outcome while carrying the qualities effective leadership requires.
Views differ on where that ability comes from – some believe leadership is a trait built up seriously over time through deliberate practice, others see it as something present in everyone waiting to be developed. Either way, an effective leader has to know the different leadership styles and when to apply each one, believe in the message they are delivering and their own capacity to lead, and stay genuinely part of the team rather than working apart from it, pursuing the institution's goals rather than personal ones. This course from the Arab British Fellowship Training Academy is built for anyone who wants to develop their skills and their ability to carry out administrative tasks as a department head.
