Training Course in Computer-Driven Information Systems (IS) Management (Online / Remote)

1Summary

A computer without an operating system is, in practical terms, scrap metal — it is the operating system that tells the machine how to execute tasks and gives programmers the environment to build on. That single fact explains why Information Systems, at their core, cannot be separated from the computers and operating systems that carry them: IS grew out of computer science as an attempt to understand the technical and managerial philosophy inside organisations, and it has since become one of the five core resources an institution relies on, alongside its human and financial capital.

This course connects the two sides directly — the computer hardware and operating principles on one hand, and the management, engineering and confidentiality practices of Information Systems on the other — so participants leave able to operate both, not just one.

2Objectives and target group

What participants take away:

  • Solid experience in management, and in commercial, financial and human resources coordination.
  • Practical skill in operating computers and the programs that support Information Systems.
  • The ability to protect information confidentiality through computer applications.

  • Directors of management and accounting departments, and corporate managers seeking dedicated information systems.
  • Employees in technical departments and organisations already running software systems.
  • Managers and supervisors of software and technology departments, and IS developers within companies.

3Course Content

  • How computers receive and process data into valuable, stored information.
  • Why operating systems — not just brand names like Windows, Macintosh or Linux — are what actually make a computer usable.
  • Information Systems definition and importance, and how IS grew out of computer science as a management discipline.

Module 2: Information Systems Strategy, Engineering and Assessment

  • IS strategies and the method of engineering and assessing them.
  • Mastering established methods and approaches for managing information systems.
  • Deep-diving into advanced IS features that connect institutions with high-performing companies.

Module 3: Security, Access Control and Confidentiality

  • Management strategies for confidential information security, and Information Security Management (ISM).
  • Method of managing access protection systems, including the role of Smart Cards.
  • Computer applications that support Information Systems while keeping their confidentiality.
