Training Course on Understanding Alternative Medicine: Practice, Benefits and Limits (Online / Remote)

1Summary

Every year, a growing number of patients look beyond conventional medicine toward folk and traditional remedies, often before — or instead of — visiting a doctor. Understanding why they make that choice, and what alternative medicine can and cannot offer, is the starting point of this Training Course on Understanding Alternative Medicine from the Arab British Fellowship Training Academy.

The course treats alternative medicine as a form of traditional or folk therapy rooted in the cultural heritage, beliefs and values of each community, where the practitioner reads illness as part of a wider social context rather than a purely clinical event. Participants examine the reasoning behind patients' choices, the genuine strengths of these practices, and the real limitations that appear when a condition needs diagnostic or therapeutic tools that folk medicine cannot provide.
