Tackling Economic Food Deficiency: A Training Course for Health Management (Online / Remote)

1Summary

When a country's health budget comes under strain, nutrition is often one of the first things to suffer — and the gap it leaves behind is what specialists call economic food deficiency: a shortfall in the nutrients a person needs day to day, driven by cost rather than availability.

Because the causes cut across sectors, closing that gap is never just a health department's job — every relevant authority in the country has a role to play, starting with the health administration, which typically carries primary responsibility for national nutrition.

The Arab British Fellowship Training Academy designed this advanced course to address exactly this intersection: food safety auditing, health management, and the economics of nutritional shortfall.

2Objectives and target group

Course Objectives

  • Identify the factors that drive economic food deficiency, including weak health budgets that raise the cost of closing nutritional gaps — whether through pricier medical equipment or underperforming health sectors.
  • Learn how nutrition and food management experts publish lists of alternative foods offering an ideal nutrient mix, calibrated to a population's real income and to demand, supply, and safety considerations.
  • Understand why developing and prioritizing health facilities matters when low income is in play, since income ties directly to productivity, and falling productivity feeds disease spread, which in turn strains those same facilities further.

Who Should Attend

  • Professionals working in health and nutrition fields.
  • Managers and coordinators in health care departments.
  • Medical and food-industry practitioners.
  • Graduates of pharmacy, public health, food industries, and related disciplines.
