Reading the Food Pyramid Training Course (Online / Remote)

1Summary

Between protein-only diets, plant-only trends, and conflicting advice online, many people lose track of what a genuinely balanced meal looks like. The food pyramid remains one of the simplest, most reliable tools for solving that confusion — organising every food group by the role it plays in the body, from energy-giving carbohydrates to bone-supporting calcium.

In this course, the Arab British Fellowship Training Academy walks participants through a six-section food pyramid, showing practical daily quantities for each group and how to combine them into meals that cover every nutritional need without guesswork.

2Objectives and target group

  • Identify the six sections of the food pyramid and the role each plays in a healthy diet.
  • Determine appropriate daily portions for starches, vegetables, fruits, dairy, protein and fats.
  • Understand how the pyramid connects to daily habits and long-term health.
  • Recognise common nutritional misconceptions and correct them with reliable health information.
  • Understand digestive health and the diseases linked to poor food choices.
  • Apply pyramid-based planning to reduce risk of obesity, heart disease and bone loss.
