Training Course on Lobbying and Political Influence within the UK Parliament (Online / Remote)
1Summary
Getting a policy issue onto a minister's agenda rarely happens by accident. It is the result of a deliberate strategy — knowing which committee to approach, which MP to brief, and when in the legislative calendar a case is most likely to be heard.
This training course by Arab British Fellowship Training Academy, known as the Political Gain programme, opens with how the House of Commons and House of Lords actually operate internally, then moves into the most effective and legitimate lobbying activities available to organisations and individuals. Participants also learn how to engage productively with MPs, peers, and UK government ministers.
The course situates this practical skillset within the broader role of pressure groups in political systems: as civil society institutions that grow more influential in developed democracies, while remaining present, to varying degrees, in every type of political system.
