Training Course in Fire Prevention Strategy and Advanced Firefighting Response (Online / Remote)

1Summary

A fire alarm is not where fire safety begins — it is where an organisation finds out whether its planning actually works. Most of the damage in a workplace fire comes not from the flames themselves but from decisions made, or missed, in the first few minutes. This Arab British Fellowship Training Academy course is built around that first-minutes reality, training participants to prevent fires before they start and to fight them effectively when prevention fails.

Across the programme, participants work through the full lifecycle of fire safety: recognising and classifying risk, choosing the right detection and suppression technology, planning evacuation and emergency response, and applying all of it to the specific hazards of industrial, commercial and public facilities, in line with recognised international safety standards.

2Objectives and target group

Who Should Attend?

  • Safety officers responsible for fire-prevention measures within their organisations.
  • Firefighters and emergency-services personnel.
  • Occupational health and safety managers in industrial and commercial companies.
  • Technicians and engineers involved in fire-prevention systems, and security staff in large facilities.

Knowledge and Benefits:

By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:

  • Apply the core principles of fire prevention across different work environments.
  • Use the latest advanced firefighting techniques and modern suppression systems effectively during an emergency.
  • Design and implement a fire-prevention strategy suited to their organisation, and analyse risk to keep it current.
  • Manage safe evacuation procedures and coordinate the response to a fire-related crisis.
  • Build a stronger safety culture and awareness of fire prevention within their teams and communities.

3Course Content

Module 1: The Real Cost of an Unprepared Response

  • How fires impact public safety, property and continuity of operations.
  • The role prevention plays in reducing human and material losses.
  • Initial, low-cost measures that reduce risk immediately.

Module 2: Understanding and Classifying Fire Risk

  • Basic principles for dealing with fires and the factors that lead to ignition.
  • Traditional fire classifications and classification by combustible material.
  • Methods for measuring, assessing and prioritising fire risk across a facility.

Module 3: Designing and Maintaining a Prevention Plan

  • Key elements of a fire-prevention plan and identifying the areas most at risk.
  • Reviewing and updating the plan on a regular basis.
  • Tailoring prevention measures, permits and maintenance to industrial facilities and flammable-material handling.

Module 4: Detection, Alarm and Suppression Technology

  • Early-detection technologies and how to select the right system for a given facility.
  • Automatic firefighting systems and integrated alarm-and-extinguishing systems, plus their maintenance.
  • Manual firefighting equipment and choosing between water and chemical suppression by fire type.

Module 5: Evacuation and Emergency Response Planning

  • Designing an effective evacuation plan and training employees on evacuation procedures.
  • Technological systems that support safe evacuation.
  • Preparing a comprehensive emergency plan and coordinating work teams during a fire crisis.

Module 6: Fire Safety Across Different Facility Types

  • Prevention in commercial buildings and multi-storey or high-rise structures.
  • Managing fires in crowded, high-density and public facilities such as schools and hospitals.
  • Firefighting strategies for confined spaces and other high-risk locations.

Module 7: Industrial and Chemical Hazard Response

  • Studying the specific risk factors present in industrial environments.
  • Firefighting techniques for the chemical and petroleum industries, and protecting worker safety.
  • Preparing and executing emergency procedures on industrial sites.

Module 8: Building the Human Side — Teams, Training and Culture

  • Organising firefighting teams, defining roles and coordinating between them.
  • Continuous employee training, periodic drills, and community-awareness campaigns.
  • Developing a sustainable, long-term prevention plan aligned with global safety standards.
