A wind turbine blade spends decades being twisted, flexed, and battered by wind, rain, and temperature swings, all while trying to stay as light as possible. Meeting that contradiction – strong enough to survive, light enough to perform – comes down almost entirely to the material choices made at the design stage.
This course in Blade Materials Engineering for Wind Turbines, delivered by the Arab British Fellowship Training Academy, gives participants a working understanding of the composites, resins, and emerging materials used in blade manufacturing today, and how each choice trades off cost, weight, durability, and sustainability.
