How do you insure someone's health and life while keeping the arrangement cooperative rather than purely commercial? That's the question at the heart of Takaful insurance, and it's what this Arab British Fellowship Training Academy course sets out to answer. Participants build strong, practical skills in managing employee insurance policies within companies and institutions, and in understanding health insurance terms and how they're applied under a Takaful structure.
Takaful insurance works as a contractual arrangement built on cooperation: a group of participants exposed to the same risk each contribute an amount — a donation known as a subscription — into a shared Participants' Fund used to compensate whoever suffers a loss. That fund is kept entirely separate from the Takaful operator's own Shareholders' Account; the operator simply manages and invests the Participants' Fund in return for a fee, in line with Islamic Sharia principles and rulings.
