Infection Control and Safe Medical Waste Handling Training Course

Summary

Get medical waste disposal wrong, and the damage doesn't stay inside the hospital — it reaches the soil and the groundwater around it. Medical waste covers sharp and non-sharp instruments, blood, organs, chemicals, medicines, medical devices, and radioactive material, generated mainly by hospitals, clinics, laboratories, blood banks, and morgues, with pharmacies, dental clinics, and doctors' offices as secondary sources. Once collected from health-care facilities, this waste has to be moved and processed correctly, because the environmental and health consequences of getting it wrong cannot really be estimated after the fact.

The Arab British Fellowship Training Academy built this course for anyone whose work touches health-care centres closely or from a distance, to give them a solid grounding in infection prevention and medical waste management.
