Two structures built to the same design can perform very differently over their service life, and the reason is often not the design itself but the materials chosen to build it. Construction Materials engineering is what turns that choice into a deliberate, evidence-based decision, and this training course builds the practical grounding needed to select, specify, and evaluate the major materials used in modern construction.
Participants will build a working understanding of metallurgy as it applies to structural steel and reinforcement behavior, and will practice evaluating polymers and modern composites for construction applications. The course gives strong emphasis to the engineering properties and quality control of concrete, the structural behavior and detailing of steel, and the performance requirements of asphalt materials, giving engineers a well-rounded view across traditional and advanced construction materials.
