A few millimetres of misalignment in a rail curve can be the difference between a smooth, safe ride and years of accelerated wear on both track and rolling stock — which is why track geometry decisions carry consequences that last for decades. This training course gives participants a practical, end-to-end grounding in railway engineering, connecting alignment design with construction execution and the maintenance regime that keeps a track performing safely over its working life.
Participants build technical competency in rail infrastructure planning and in track alignment, horizontal and vertical geometry, curves, transitions and superelevation, as the factors most directly shaping ride quality and long-term track performance. The course also covers ballast behaviour and construction methods for railway projects, and closes with practical inspection and maintenance strategies that catch track defects before they compromise safety.
