Heating and cooling account for a major share of a building's total energy bill, and in a world pushing hard toward decarbonisation, that single fact is reshaping how architects, facility managers and engineers approach temperature control. Passive design, renewable-powered systems and smart controls are no longer optional extras — they are becoming the baseline expectation for residential, commercial and industrial projects alike.
The Training Course in Smart and Efficient Building Heating and Cooling Systems, delivered by the Arab British Fellowship Training Academy, walks participants through this shift in practice. Rather than treating heating and cooling as separate disciplines, the course shows how passive strategies, renewable technologies (geothermal, solar thermal, heat pumps) and digital controls work together as one integrated system.
By the end of the programme, participants will be able to compare technologies on cost and performance grounds, apply passive design and insulation principles to cut demand before adding equipment, and align their projects with the regulations and certification schemes now shaping the sector.
