Two countries with identical sunshine can end up with completely different amounts of installed solar capacity, and the reason is rarely the technology itself. It is policy: permitting timelines, grid interconnection rules, subsidy design, and the political will to keep those rules stable long enough for investors to trust them. Solar hardware has become cheap and reliable; the regulatory environment around it is now the variable that decides whether projects actually get built.
Arab British Fellowship Training Academy designed this course to make sense of that regulatory environment. Participants examine who shapes solar policy and why, how national and local rules interact, and the practical mechanics of permitting, grid access, subsidies and power purchase agreements that determine a project's bottom line.
The course also looks beyond individual projects to the bigger picture: how policy innovation, international comparisons, equity concerns and environmental assessments are reshaping what "good" solar policy looks like, and how solar strategy fits within a country's wider energy goals.
