Keeping track of hundreds of servers by logging into each one individually simply doesn’t scale – and that gap is exactly what the Simple Network Management Protocol was built to close. This SNMP Network Monitoring and Management Tools Course by the Arab British Fellowship Training Academy takes participants through the protocol that lets servers report their state automatically and lets administrators adjust predefined values through a single, standard channel.

While the protocol itself is simple, the software that implements it can be complex, so the course covers SNMP’s core building blocks, how to install and configure it securely, and how its versions and access controls differ – giving network administrators, Cisco engineers, programmers and information security engineers a working, secured client-server SNMP setup by the end.

Who Should Attend?

• Network administrators and Cisco engineers.
• IT specialists and programmers.
• Information security engineers.

Knowledge and Benefits:

After completing the program, participants will be able to master the following:

• Get a solid understanding of how the SNMP protocol operates.
• Build the foundation needed to implement SNMP within their own infrastructure.
• Set up a fully configured client-server environment that communicates securely using SNMP.
• Add additional daemons on other hosts and configure account access across the entire infrastructure.

Module 1: SNMP Core Concepts

• SNMP managers and agents, and understanding the Management Information Base.

Module 2: Installing and Configuring SNMP

• Installing the SNMP daemon and utilities.
• SNMP protocol commands and general configuration.

Module 3: Related Network Protocols and Versions

• Configuring and verifying security for Network Time Protocol and Secure Copy Protocol.
• Simple Network Management Protocol versions and their differences.

Module 4: Secure Access and Device Management

• Overview of secure management and secure device access.
• In-band versus out-of-band access, and Triple A (AAA) security.
