The computer on a modern desk can do in seconds what once took entire rooms of machinery, yet the objects that actually make it productive — its software — are rarely understood by the people who use them daily. Arab British Fellowship Training Academy presents this course, built on modern scientific foundations and developed curricula, to close that gap.
A computer system in Information Technology consists of two parts: the physical devices and equipment, and the software required to operate them. Software lets computers accept and process data according to specific instructions to produce accurate outputs, and it has evolved over the years — from early batch-processing systems, through database and multi-user management systems, to today's artificial intelligence and expert systems.
This evolution did not happen in isolation. As the data behind the Information Revolution kept expanding, computers gained more capability at lower cost and shrinking size, while modern media — especially digital and satellite-based communication — made transmitting information far easier. Companies were reshaped significantly by this shift, and an entire Information Economy emerged as a result.
