That question sits at the heart of general endurance — the maximum limit within which a person can practice their preferred sport or activity before general or localised tiredness takes over. Raising this limit is a genuine priority for athletes, since their day-to-day performance and their ability to keep an active lifestyle both depend on it.
Because every sport places different demands on the body, endurance exercises differ from one activity to another, and so do the rest periods between exercise intervals — timed to let the heart return to its normal pulse rate, which itself varies from one person and one sport to another.
